Rudolf Steiner said that “the ABC of agriculture is to recognize what is cosmic and what is earthly.” When we begin to investigate this concept we find that we know little about what is actually cosmic and what is earthly. An example: is snow cosmic or earthly? The snow has a star form; the snow has light inside, the form of the crystal. While in the rain we have the form of a drop that is round, and it looks towards the earth. So the snow is a higher cosmic force and the rain is a lower cosmic force. In order to understand Steiner’s sentence, we need to begin making “new” thoughts.
In order to make these “new” thoughts, we must develop the capacity to enter into relationship with all manifested beings.
The development of clarity of thought and purity of heart are two more directions given to us by Rudolf Steiner. A developmental path toward higher consciousness depends upon these two faculties.
